There are «multiple star» hotels with a lot of additional services and more modest ones with the same range of services at much cheaper rates. The cheapest places are Soviet type hotels. Such old hotels as Almaty, Kazakhstan, Daulet, Otrar etc have clean decent rooms with renovation. A little more expensive are rooms with air conditioning and satellite TV.

Some hotels are located in the mountains, like Arman, Premier Medeo and Chimbulak.

If you do not need to stay in a downtown hotel you can consider booking a room in a sanatorim. Located in quiet scenic places near the mountains, sanatoriums offer the same service as city hotels. You can find their telephones in the A-Business on-line Sanatoriums database.

Accomodation in Almaty is not reduced to hotels only. Some people prefer to rent an apartment or a cottage. A-Business on-line Real Estate Agencies database has about 20 agencies.
